Go ahead and snicker at this entertaining documentary’s attempt to explain world economic and political realities in street terms – its subtitle is Will the Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up? But filmmakers E. Raymond Brown and William Arntz are dead serious and their pop-culture-fueled examples of “the game” are as sophisticated as any poli-sci course, with a lively roster of “guest lecturers” like Cornel West, Sonia Barrett, KRS-One, and Fillmore Slim making a strong case for participatory democracy of the skeptical variety. The film’s message echoes the words of Peter Tosh: “Get up, stand up. Stand up for your rights.” (90 min.)
